Friday Link Round Up – Cario 678, Free the Arctic 30, Army photos, 16 days of activism

Cairo 678, directed by Mohamed Diab focuses on three women and their stories about sexual harassment. Mohamed Diab states in an interview with Sarah El-Shaarawi that “one of the reasons I made this film was because I really felt, as a Muslim (or any other religious male in the world), you could not want to see anyone living through this injustice.”

Army photographic competition. National Army Museum, Chelsea, London, from 10-22 October 2013.

The crew of the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise are still being held in jail. Join the Free the Arctic 30 and contact the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom. I attended a campaigning event run by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation at the Take One Action Film Festival and it was suggested that to improve your chance of getting a response from a letter writing campaign you should:

1. Personalise it. Change the wording, put in your concerns, add extra information.

2. Write a letter, not an email.

Will be seeing if these tips will help me get a response!

16 daysThinking about what would be an effective way to spend 16 days of activism. Any ideas for a local campaign?
