Banking adverts will not make us forget what caused a global recession.

“TSB: The Story” as the advert is named. But what’s the real reason behind the TSB resurrection? Its a government condition that after bailing out Lloyds TSB in 2008 part of the bank needed to be sold off… Was that too hard a sell? Never mind create an advert drowned in nostalgia and the public will flock to it. Oh the good old days before the welfare state….

A reminder of why TSB has been created Banking crisis timeline and Three weeks that changed the world.

Another example of an excessive advert from Banco Sabadell a Spanish bank. Spain’s jobless rate falls for first time in two years to 26.3% down from a record 27.2% in the first quarter. The recession is still strangling Spain and banks have money to waste on adverts.

And finally RBS’s sickly sweet offering.
